Done a couple of job interviews recently and I'm starting to think demanding that people have already done the exact thing they're applying to do is a great way to filter out the ambitious.

It's amazing the lengths employers go to in ignoring potential differentiating factors in their new hires, all so that they _feel_ the appointment is safe. "Well we need someone to do x and A has done x" "Ok. What about B? B made x irrelevant in her previous role?" "We want x."
