Weird autism observation: 90% of the time I’m masking as hard as I can to make other people more comfortable, but the second I behave like I’m autistic or admit how difficult some things are for me, when I’m being my truest self, is when many people think I’m “putting it on”

I’m not sure how to get around this problem: Allistic:allistic - get to know each other > both relax more > +ve feedback loops Autistic:allistic - you get to know each other > both relax more > energy-expensive mask slips > allistic reacts, autistic notices tension > -ve loopspic.twitter.com/JGKzIh675U

I know that’s a simplification, but it’s not _that_ inaccurate in light of recent research on neurotype communication. Of course I didn’t cover autistic:autistic, but I don’t have much experience of that IRL.
