There’s an Indian grinding rock within a mile of my house. Farming here is out of the question but an awful lot of seeds were ground there. Glad it’s not my job

Oh interesting. I remember reading a study by a researcher in Florence, talking about really old pestle — which dated about 21000 prior to agriculture — and being shocked that oat residue would stick around for that long. Wild.
