I'll be interested to see how Lopez treats the mahasiddhas. I enjoyed this Kapstein article which highlights how the literature surrounding the mahasiddhas was utilised in 'elaborate doctrinal systems', attempting to 'extract coherent meaning' to fit w/ orthopraxy:
