If someone is nitpicking, yes, they might be trolling. But it's also possible that they have something to say — based on their understanding/experience — and are testing whether you're interested in a discussion.
This isn't my strong suit. I should probably throw myself into the deep end by taking a job where I have to manage a bunch of neurotics.
I think @utotranslucence talked about building sensitivity to team dynamics: especially in practical situations where people actually care.

Yeah this is pretty much my current attitude, rightly or wrongly. I've never worked in a professional environment where I care enough to invest in that skill acquisition.

I might be mistaken. My memory isn't playing nice. Something along the lines of using emotions as information. I've seen this dynamic lots, where individuals' relationship to their own emotions and assumptions become a hidden constraint w/ significant energy costs to the system

yes. beings react not to what is communicated, but to their projections. they are cognitively blind to this sleight of hand. our minds are faulty. dunno if a practical fix exists.
