We seek power and give it away for the same reason. We seek power in order to control, to make the world in our image, and thus minimise uncertainty. We submit to power in order to be controlled, assimilated into a larger scheme, and thus minimise uncertainty.

Maybe, we don’t submit to power in order to be controlled — unless ones into bondage — but I suspect we unwittingly submit to power because it is path of least resistance. Ideological subjects internalise hidden costs, because it seems easier than being aware of costs/dissonance.
