0/6} a brief thread on "Buddhism" as "a religion" or notpic.twitter.com/WWhQgkLGMK
1} Depends on our relationship to the words. I qualify as a Buddhist, recognized in my state as a Buddhist minister and my organization as a church. Buddhists historically don't refer to "Buddhism"— but to "Buddha-dharma," i.e., the truths the Buddha taught about how things are.
There has been a lot of good work done to undo decades of poor thinking on this subject. Unfortunately many Buddhist teachers seem to prefer to keep the 'we're not religious' PR campaign.
Even 'secular mindfulness' people are religious, esp. the ones who don't like religion
yeah...I have a piece on http://thesideview.co this week that touches on that issue (and, again w/ words: in the Middle Ages, "secular" referred to a kind of priest, namely one who lived and worked "in the world," as distinct from those in monasteries)https://thesideview.co/articles/deconstructing-mindfulness/ …
Nice, I'll give that a read later. Thanks for the link!
