How would you translate this nugget from Kabat-Zinn? Which self is he referring to? “...to be yourself and not try to become anything that you are not already. Buddhism is fundamentally about being in touch with your own deepest nature and letting it flow out of you unimpeded.”

He seems to be pointing to some soul essence somewhere even if that was not his intention. I can't help but think he's feeding the wellness desire of the modern spiritual seeker in much the same way so many salesmen have: Go inwards dear seeker, all you need is right there.
