I do prefer the idea of returning directly to the food chain to being stuck in a box to rot on my own. Never did get the (or early Europeans’) fetishization of human relics though I don’t find it abhorrent.

I’d go for that. However, one of the practical reasons cannibalism, corpse-handling, etc. are often taboo is that it’s very hard to neutralize prion diseases like kuru and CJD. As UK’s mad cow outbreak in the 90s showed, mere cooking’s no guarantee of safety.
