      The Visions of Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179). A Benedictine abbess, composer & mystic, at age 43, she received "divine communications" to record the visions she'd been having since age 3.       I don’t know, Ewan I’m not a psychologist. I’m just a bit of a meditation geek with a special interest in contemplatives who live/d in a way which provides clues to our individual and collective attachment to narratives, which become solidified into stable cultures/institutions.

      I think 'visions' tend to get explained away as epilepsy these days. Someone said that about "the conversion of Paul' anyway. I also have an interest in "contemplatives" btw

      I would guess that most mystics have undiagnosed temporal-lobe epilepsy or are inducing partial seizures in themselves through meditation. Which is why their methods don't work for most people most of the time.
