well, IIRC, you mentioned a certain type of offering practice. Vajrayana traditions has a language of justification for why one should/might want to do this thing, often this language can be tremendously 'woo' (eg: adhisthana/blessings). 1/x
one doesn't necessarily have to believe in the metaphysical justification for that 'soul language', to serve a certain purpose. Very woo folk might get offended by that bastardised use of their language, but they're occupying a different - albeit overlapping - cultural space 2/x
