I don't really care about knife skills. The art of cooking well but not too much is closer to where I am at. It helps to have a good burner. And then I say, "experiment!"

I’d strongly recommend everyone to gain some proficiency in basic knife skills - not hard, minimum investment required. Massively reduces prep time & injury risk, and some other benefits to boot. Plus as James said, you move more like a cook, which actually counts for something
