This is something I've heard a lot of autistics say One possibility is that difficulties identifying emotions in the body - driving thoughts & behaviour below the threshold of awareness - lead to the impression that suicidal ideation is purely pragmatic, when it may not be.

Just something to consider. Also, I do think that in general autistic people seem to have a more pragmatic attitude to suicide, and some of that may be in part due to a lack of alignment with common social/cultural values surrounding death in general and suicide in particular.
