I moved from Finland to Taiwan about half year ago. What is have experienced is the chronical lack of affordable cheese but having infinite options for tofu varieties.
I had a friend move to Taiwan and then Kuala Lumpur for engineering projects - she would often lament the lack of good cheese, wine, charcuterie, but loved having access to so many other amazing foods.

I think that is an experience many Taipei expats share. The food culture is really tasty and rich, but when you gain some; you lose something else.
