There isn't some magic sauce that Reggie is peddling - he just happens to have worked on this and developed his teaching style and reputation around 'somatic meditation'. Also, for some the language/style of that way of teaching will be a natural barrier to entry anyway.

The thing is that the Dharma Ocean style frames those practices in a certain way. For some that frame really valuable, for others the language/style won't be helpful. I would imagine one could get very similar results from other modalities/teachers.

that was my intuition as well. at least for now. my hope is that once I have some of this sorted, i can learn/employ the somatic mindfulness practices outside of the larger system but i will probably wait on that!
