I'm not a father, but I imagine one would have to be in deep torment and pain to kill oneself - leaving a kid behind to deal with the world in the state it's in & going to be in. When I was deeply depressed the thought of my mother being saddened by my passing kept me alive.
This is why one must aspire to kindness and compassion - to the degree possible - for oneself and others. Premature death is the steep price of not doing so.
