quick followup to say I’ve been told it’s more appropriate to use “enby” instead of “nb” since that shorthand is used by Black folks to mean “non-black”. I’ll definitely remove using “nb” as shorthand for “non-binary” from my vocab!

wait, we’re learning even more things! many non-binary folks don’t like the term “enby” so “n-b” and “NBi” are more universal and inclusive. thanks to all who have shared their perspective and info!

As a non-binary person it always makes me do the collar tug when I see a well known/famous person come out as such... because of so much hate an vitriol that I almost always hesitate to tell people I’m enby

nonbinary people fall under the trans umbrella, because trans = not IDing with the gender you were assigned at birth. there's binary trans, and nonbinary trans. you don't need to medically transition to be More Trans than anyone else, that's transmed shit

I always have mixed feelings when a celebrity comes out. They are people with so much privilege and rarely have to worry about any consequences while coming out. Meanwhile, tons of normal people don’t have the privilege of being able to be out and proud.
