A mate of mine does this on her vocals for chorus stuff - I seem to remember her splitting out the layered sources with a bit of pan/phase separation for a richer/broader sound, too. Useful tricks you can still do on a Mac in yer bedroom :-)

Yeah! I generally pan harmonies & keep main melody layers center, but there are frequent exceptions :)
