It's a shame Scotland isn't distinct enough to get its own parody holiday in the US. We've just got accents that Americans seem to find uniformly sexy.

I think UK & Ireland are similar in the way that it's pretty hard to genuinely offend most people here. There's a lot of piss-taking in our cultures and it's seen as pretty harmless 90% of the time.

Also, I don't think it's "Mocking" per se, it's not mean spirited, ignorant perhaps, but no harm is meant. As a Proud Irish-American myself, I've never felt belittled by it, even if on occassion it seems a little too much. One man's opinion.
