I wouldn't do that. I've been seeing reports from indie artists about albums being removed from Google Play because they're "seeing high numbers of plays from few IPs and screw you, no more money from Google".

I think it only counts as a "play" after set amount of time into the song. If you skip within the first few seconds it doesn't count as you having played it.

Spotify probably wouldn’t work as a primary source of income for a majority of artists except the very mainstream ones who already have a massive follower base worldwide and rack up plays by the millions per day
