Almost makes me wonder if it wouldn't have made a better movie than a game, but then a movie could never really create the kind of hard-earned symbiotic bond the player develops with Trico over that 15-20 hours

In short, if you struggled with Last Guardian give it another try when you have time to spare. The final few hours are a worthy emotional payoff and almost (though not 100%) justify why Trico is so frustrating to guide around

Agreed (though I also don't mind the mechanical stuff so that colours my opinion obviously)

Haven't played it yet but I want too. I think the only mechanically sound game they've made is Shadow but they always make affecting stories. I'm liking Ico so far but it's really tough to get through

It's one of my personal favourites, to this day it stays with me. The controls are a sin but the game resonated with me and that's what matters the most

So no shade implied, but that kid didnt grate on your nerves? I think i could handle the mechanics themselves, but I dont think I could handle the damn kid shouting nonstop. Lol

His controls drove me nuts a few times alright

It one of my absolute favorite games to watch playthroughs of. Seeing the players become so emotionally invested and treat Trico as a real living thing that they love is adorable beyond words,
