But I get it - because as a streamer/vlogger etc your personality is basically your product, isn't it? I guess musicians etc are lucky in that we can choose to just let our songs/pics/etc speak for themselves when we are feeling like we want more privacy

Perhaps they don't have close friends? That'd be sad; everyone needs SOMEONE to confide to at their lowest. Going in circles in your own head is extremely detrimental.

Honestly I think it depends on the Streamer. Its a 2 way thing too. Being open means you attract a more loyal following usually. Privacy is still easy to have though if you build yourself around it. There's always some that see that as a challenge though I think.

To be honest, in your case I mostly care about the great music. If you want to share more it's ok but not necessary. I just appreciate you for the great musician you are.

I suppose the knowledge of someone's personal life, of their person, has an impact on how their art is perceived. This person makes songs about life in NY, but has lived their whole life in a small hamlet in Bavaria. Yes, that's a good analogy.
