I've always enjoyed the dichotomy of big heavy riffs with softer vocals. Eg. early Muse, Queens Of The Stone Age, Opeth, Devin Townsend etc

I actually feel that sometimes big chunky riffs & heavy sections stand out MORE when the main vocal parts of the song are more melodic.

Anyway. Expect the Wolfenstein 2 song to be this way, cos BJ is big, chunky & tough but deep down parts of his soul are soft as kittens.

I mean, I've never had a 'heavy' voice anyway. I have a soft bass baritone and that's what you're gonna get in my songs, come rain or shine

I see those kinds of comments all the time with stuff like Dream Theater etc. I think it's very much a taste thing but I like me melodies

I'm curious, what songs of your's get those complaints?
-
Shadow Of The Ash, pretty much any song where I have quiet verses in between heavy bits... the new Wolf 2 song is getting it a bit as well

Good! The soft vocals make the heavy parts feel way more heavy IMO.

I feel the same. Dynamics!
