Nioh vs Souls thoughts: Pros: Best combat since Bloodborne, possibly better Cons: Less mystery & grandeur than Souls + More repetition.

so similar to DS2's lesser aspects but minus the bad luck of being the direct follow up to Dark Souls
-
not exactly... it's mission based. And the combat is 100x better than DS2

it is certainly looking like a great year for gaming with how it has started and that means a great year for your music :D

you're not wrong, but I'm honestly finding the more traditional plot to be a refreshing change from Souls style obfuscation.

like, in a game where progression is a struggle, it's a nice change to not have to work to get the world/narrative. =P

so it's more Demons Souls than Dark Souls? That's the impression I've gotten from reviews and such.

I really struggled with Bloodborne, played quite a bit of DS3. I'm about 3 and a half hours into Nioh, loving it so far.

I think people are better off NOT expecting a Soulsborne anyway and judging it on its own merits and faults.

I feel like that can be a bonus for some who find Soulsborne's huge world daunting re: The lack of a interconnected world
