Yep. Voters in states which can go back and forth and have a lot of electoral votes have more sway then say all of Vermont.

It's first past the post, as in the UK. If you're in a marginal state, your vote counts more. If a safe seat, then less.

Basically America's elections are decided by a few states, called swing states. Mostly Florida, Ohio and Colorado.

it's been decided by more in the past but in tight races, those are the ones to watch so Kentucky and Indiana don't matter
