I wouldn’t even mind if most of the talk around them being “not a game” didn’t have an unspoken “and is therefore lesser” after.

Yep - plus the lines that divide them from what constitutes a 'game' are both fluid and almost impossible to quantify

E.g. - If Dear Esther plonked one enemy or puzzle in you have to avoid or fight - does it only then become a 'game'?
