as someone who grew up in Ireland for 20 years as a foreigner, the only accents I struggled with were deep rural Cork and Donegal accents. That's two out of goodness knows how many.

Yeah I've never had trouble understanding you. Like you say every country has some very secluded area with regional accents that are harder to understand, even for native speakers, but general accents aren't hard at all to understand. They just didn't wanna bother finding people
If they want a tough accent, send them a Scot. Irish - even Oilster - is simple.

I dunno man, I did my Animation Internship in Kilkenny, 4 hours after arriving the TV license man shows up speaking the thickest middle of fuck nowhere rural Irish I have ever heard. I didn't understand a fucking word until he just gave up, handed me the bill and moved on.
