It provides an additional sense of closure for me. It's the happy end I want to have, so that works for me. I still remember my Telvanni wizard in Morrowind resting in his perfectly outfitted house, inside the wonderful library. Or my Skyrim bladesinger in his own house.

I liked to leave my Skyrim character somewhere safe and scenic, watching either the sunset or sunrise. Fallout characters usually on a ridge or with their backs to a cliff or wall, somewhere *I* felt safe. It's because we're immersed, I think. We leave them where we want to be.

In Death Stranding the last time I played it after getting the Platinum I took one last ride on a bike to all the major cities along the roads I'd helped build.

I left my most recent dragonborn chilling in Heljarchen Hall with Serana. Geralt's probably drinking wine and taking a nice bath in Corvo Bianco. I don't mind leaving Kassandra in random places though, it's an odyssey after all
