I don't think it's any more or less valid, but there are many people who share your tastes, or values in what makes a good game. They simply may not have the disposable income to buy lots of games. There are people who follow you, for 'you' as well as your creative projects.

This is true. Impressions of games are so subjective that if you want a fighting chance of a useful review you’ve got to latch on to someone who (at least appears to) roughly characterise your tastes. Just a shame that people can’t handle criticism of a game that they like

i mean, most of your fanbase has at least one common interest with you. so of course liking your music and games that inspire it means supposedly liking the same games you do, which of course isn't the case, but it still creates that mental logic loop?? do i make any sense lmao
