That's hardly the game's fault though, is it? Much more a sad coincidence. Was the first TLOU anymore cheery with the death of a preteen girl in the first half hour?
(Fair warning I have not played TLOU 1 or 2, but I am watching lets plays,)

That DOES sound like a miserable thing to be in considering the world at the moment. You get far more engrossed in the atmosphere of a game when you play it first hand as well. - This is the time we need the sequel to Horizon or Breath of the Wild.

I’d describe the first game as “finding beauty in bleakness”. You’re right about what we need though. THIS is the time for a Superman story.
