I didn't spot this in the show, but I saw it on Reddit later, the egg was Saesenthessis, or Saskia from Witcher 2. Borch was her father.

Yep, she mentions him briefly after Geralt finds out she’s a dragon. Villentretenmerth is his real name. And his Gwent card in Witcher 3 is Borch and the Zerrikanian warrior women.

The timeline stuff is incomprehensible to me. Just give us a little text. It’s so unclear. Otherwise I found it really enjoyable
-
How is it unclear? It's always moving forward in time, and the timelines don't split up again after characters meet. For exact time all you have to do is listen to dialog. Now title cards wouldn't have hurt the show in any way, but it's not that difficult to follow.

I enjoyed it as well, my main issue with Borch was the design of his Dragon form. It was kinda lacking compared to the description in the books
-
It was 2003 VFX. I don't think I can find any redeeming quality about it. The rest of the episode was excellent however.

Yeah, took me a while to twig they were jumping round in the timeline, and I knew what was going on, I imagine it confused quite a few people who weren't familiar with any form of the Witcher in general.

Once you realise the timeline bit, it becomes really interesting how details mentioned are shown in other timelines, like young Foltest bugging his sister at Aretuza (and, well, the effects years later in Geralt's story).

Something I noticed doing a rewatch, they hint at it in episode 1. Calanthe mentions being Ciri’s age when she won her first battle at name of place I forget that starts with an H. Next scene Renfri mentions that Calanthe just won that battle.
