Mixing does

Yep but then if you wanted to set up a business & pursue it seriously you have to invest. Don’t set up a repair business, buy cheap tools & then be surprised when nothing works & your customers aren’t happy. Or a bakery with cheap ovens & blame the burnt goods on everything else

Obviously. The point here is that the investment is difficult for many musicians and many cases causes a net loss

So do many businesses. It’s the risk you take if you want to make money from something on your own.

Or you could learn to mix yourself and save the money until you can afford a pro
Worked out pretty well for me

Or if it’s so expensive learn the craft of all things recording first and then make money by offering same service to other musicians. It solves the income problem so that it can be funded for their own projects. Because not everyone wants to track, mix, and master themselves

That’s what I did. I’ve been recording bands since my early teens and I’m working on making it my full time thing. Getting there. My point was more that there’s really no excuse for saying “I can’t” when there are so many options nowadays. There’s always a way!
