How did Ubisoft react to your 2 watch dogs songs? I think if they were positive youd have a strong chance. I get it's still a risk regardless. I'm more curious than anything.

I believe Ubisoft and possibly HitRecord own every submission, regardless of if the submitters get paid for it. That was one of the criticisms of their E3 2018 announcement for art submission. Gav owns the songs he writes.

It is in the fine print of practically every "competition" type entry system where your submission has "the chance" to be used in their book/tv show/be made into a toy ect. Sometimes there's nothing nefarious, but other times they will use your submission later without pay.

And they are "entitled" to do so, because you didn't actually win the specific competition or event you submitted to. There was an infamous He-Man design contest where Mattel pulled this with a child (who later grew up to be a Transformers designer).

I mean it’s basically what Warner Bros. did last year with their “pitch us your original horror story and we might make it into a movie!!” And in the fine print you basically sold your horror movie away for $50 if you won and even if you didn’t win you basically gave it away.

Watch this and skip to about 14:30 minutes in to see them talk about the contest and 16:00 to see just how scummy it is. https://youtu.be/_HrR5X72_LM
