As I recall its more than just a low frame rate, they did things like have characters move on alternate frames.

Yep, some times they animated on 2s or 3s, so only animating every 2nd or 3rd frame.

Yeah it distracted me the whole runtime as well. Still a great movie, but I felt tired by the end of it because I had to keep forcing myself to ignore the framerate.

In this movie it worked for me, but in other movies the low framerate (inherent to movies) can be a problem. It can happen during panning shots which actually can make me feel physically ill.

It's the details difference between character animation (spiderverse) and camera movement which is the one that affects me.
