Example time! Let's look at my personal fave, Andy Wallace. He mixed (i.e gave the feel & vibe to): Nirvana - Nevermind Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory Slayer - Reign In Blood Rage Against The Machine - RATM Jeff Buckley - Grace Faith No More - Angel Dust etc etc etc etc.....

It tends to be producers (like Rick Rubin) who get all the admiration & praise for how records sound in the music world. But mix engineers are just as important & some cases more important! Someday I hope the wider culture learns to appreciate what an incredible artform it is :)

I like the Nirvana example because you can hear the bass really well in the mix on most of their songs

The mix on Nevermind is out of this world. The drums are so punchy!

Let's not forget it was us regular old Engineers who designed all the audio equipment since we invented amplifiers and microphones. Everyone's done their part bringing joy to your ears somewhere down the line :D
