I don't find it insulting to the devs to watch a Let's Play. That way, anyone can enjoy the scenery, atmosphere, & lore as a spectator. IE, I watch my partner play Assassins Creed Odyssey because I don't have much time for open-world games anymore. I still appreciate it that way

Are you sure, cuz you just typed it up there. It’s “reductive and insulting” because they also built a beautiful world with things to go find and places to explore, she offers the counterpoint of enjoying it vicariously. So what’s the difference between what she said and yours?

Yes, I'm sure lol. Read the tweet properly, guys. I never said watching let's plays was bad - I watch them! I said it was insulting to the many great aspects of the games to suggest a lets play is automatically a better option for anyone who doesn't play primarily for difficulty

How is someone supposed to play a game they find to difficult?

Many of these games are about overcoming challenges through trial and error. It depends on the game itself, but some are designed to be tough, but fair.

Dudes first tweet was saying watching a let's play is insulting, then moved the goalpost when people called him on it. His point is still wrong. If people dont play a game because they find it too difficult then they cant just ignore that challenge to appreciate the other aspects

The first tweet didn't say that. It was arguing against people who say 'just watch a lets play if You play from games for other reasons than the difficulty', assuming they are the same experience

That makes sense, but who was claiming that difficulty is the only reason to play From games? I'd argue that it's a key aspect, but for sure not the only reason because the scenery and lore are unprecedented. For me, the lore was the reason I stuck with it so long.
