I've been trying to convince myself for the better part of the week that I still like Dark Souls more than Sekiro... that Sekiro is just shiny and new and that's all that it is. But Sekiro has more interesting combat and lore presentation, and I think that's going to stick for me
Yeah for the most part. It's not the parry timing so much as the prolonged intense concentration required with so little margin for error. Also the jump/mikiri thing always gets me, I can't decide fast enough so its always a gamble

Also worth mentioning for me that 'Enjoyed it less than Souls & Bloodborne' is far from not liking it.. still loved it!

Yeah, I didn't assume you didn't like it, their hypothetical worst game is still well above average.

Agreed, although I did find that a bit refreshing in a way, it has comparably a lot of different mechanics that are always possibly at play, as opposed to having the option to dilute it down to a few. Like, 1dodge 2attack will often not be enough, even if you're good at it.

As for the decision you mentioned, definitely one of the toughest parts of the game when boiled down. My strategy was, unless i am already SURE it's a thrust, jump and be prepared to air parry. The mikiri is satisfying, but it's a gamble to try to react rather than predict.

Yeah! Some enemies are easier to read, for example I really enjoyed both phases of the guardian ape. But the final bosses patterns gave me so much grief lol
