Real talk:
When a musician or artist changes their style, 99% of the time they weren't enjoying their old style anymore.
When you complain & nag them to go backwards you are asking them to make something that would be half hearted and therefore it'd likely just disappoint you

You dont have to be along for the ride. But they grew tired of the party and wanted to go somewhere else. Im not gonna lie, there have been a few bands that I wish would revisit their roots. Back when Otep made Hydra, i left a comment saying I didnt care for the new direction.

Comments about how you don’t like a band’s new direction don’t actually accomplish anything though. The band already knows there will be people who don’t like it, and the band obviously doesn’t want to revisit their roots otherwise they would be doing it

And arguably it does somewhat help. It offers feedback into what their listeners think about something the band is trying. If its successful, they'll try to incorporate it into their music. If it didn't, they'll know next time. Ignoring all feedback is how you lose a fanbase.

Learning & knowing which feedback to completely ignore is something I've learned is just as crucial as listening to feedback lol

And pointing out what specifically you dont like about it is called constructive criticism. I couldve just said "your recent music sucks" but how would that help anyone? Instead I stated my opinion and explained why i feel that way about it.

This is all beside the point anyway considering I agreed with your original post; who cares what I think. Do what you like doing. Every argument made here seems to have ignored the fact that I said in my own reply that what I think doesnt matter as long as you like your work.

So it’s really ironic to me that you would bring that up as an example, because i also have fans commenting saying that my newest covers are the ones they like the best, which effectively cancels out your comments and leads me to believe my extra “passion” is inconsequential

Not wanting to pick on Tyler here so I'll add this as a more general observation - I've had the 'your recent stuff sounds monotine/similar/the same' comments a few times & all it really usually means is 'I've grown accustomed to your style over time'
