While I personally feel an easy setting in Sekiro would be great, I don't buy the idea that From is 'disrespectful' by not including it. Sometimes artists want to make something esoteric & challenging & if that's how they express themselves that's their prerogative (1 of 2)

I don't even feel like an easy setting in Sekiro would be all that helpful as a bigger problem, for me, is that the difficulty curve feels somewhat borked.

The early game is super linear and that means that, if something's difficult, you can't go and do something else which is what helps keep a sense of momentum in the game for me. More generous parry timings or health wouldn't help that.

Ah, I didn't find that an issue as I found Hirata estate quite early. But there is a big chance that someone new to From's level design will miss that

Sure, you have the Outskirts which branches off into Hirata and I think a lot of people get dead-ended at Juzou and Gyoubu. When I got into the castle it all opened up so, at one point, I had 7 directions I could go in meaning any minibosses that kicked my arse could wait 5 hours

Haha yeah I getya. I'm pretty sure at on point after lots of exploring I had 3 'big' bosses all blocking me at once

There's nothing quite like the feeling of dropping down an area to quickly get an item you got clued about just to find whole new zones (sunken valley) you didn't know about. This is my first time playing a From game blind at launch and it's such a different experience.

Their level design is second to none!
