(2 of 2) That said, I have heard some arguments that the particular difficulty style in this game is more restrictive towards gamers with certain disabilities, more than previous From games were. Would be interested to hear & share opinions from anyone in that situation!

I feel like, in the context of the developers desires, it's fine for them to not include it. But every time the discourse around soulslikes comes around I'm reminded that the actual result of sticking to that is shitty elitists being very mad at people playing games differently.

I don't even feel like an easy setting in Sekiro would be all that helpful as a bigger problem, for me, is that the difficulty curve feels somewhat borked.

The early game is super linear and that means that, if something's difficult, you can't go and do something else which is what helps keep a sense of momentum in the game for me. More generous parry timings or health wouldn't help that.

in my opinion it's the same thing that happened to dark souls, everyone said it's hard until they learned about some mechanics and found out it can be easier after all

I agree completely. I think easy mode would be perfectly ok, more choice is good, but the developers should be allowed to make the game they want to make. I don't like Dark Souls but I don't ask for it to change, I go play something else I DO like instead.

What?! Actually focus on having fun instead of endlessly complaining that Some People Are Doing It Wrong - what kind of Gamer(tm) are you? /s

I agree too. The point I don't like in this argument in general, is the idea that "every player should face exactly the same challenges". But the idea in Souls (and in Sekiro too) is to have the player feeling the harshness, feeling afraid of moving forward but moving anyway.

So difficulty settings can work in this respect, because nobody's equal before the difficulty of the game because of just skill or disabilities, and letting players find their sweet spot can just be an overall improvement to these players.
