Even though it’s not churned out and packaged, I would stylistically class early 60’s beach boys and Beatles as bubblegum pop. And I don’t mean it as an insult. I just mean pop that is ridiculously catchy and sweet. I’m not trying to take it down a notch.

Even calling pop music 'pop' seems to carry negative connotations for a lot of people these days. It was never a pejorative when I was growing up, apart from the minority of genre snobs

Me too! I find it very hard to enjoy most modern mainstream pop these days, with a few exceptions (God Is A Woman - what a tune!)
