Sometimes it sucks being so neurotic about work, here's this new song doing really well, people love it & I can't even listen to it cos all my brain can focus on is the flaws & imperfections in the sonics & mix. Blah. Delighted it's doing so well tho

I saw this graph a while ago. In the periods where you feel your work isn't good enough, your ability to evaluate art is higher than your skill at making art, which leads to lows. When your skill spikes over the ability to evaluate, you get highs.

Also, we see the flaws in our art because we designed it, piece by piece. We see the moments where we had to settle for "good enough" and wish we made it better, we see the loose ends and the redos and the might-have-beens. Nobody else can see those, which is good to remember.

I'm happy with the artistic side of my work it's always the technical side I struggle with!

Yeah, makes sense. I don't know all the stuff that goes into song producing, but either way, it is (imo) helpful to focus on the fact that really, nobody else will see those flaws that you do, be it in the artistic or technical sides. Flawed is good anyways, flawed is human
