There is no one size fits all approach to treating depression and unresolved trauma, but (excluding full on abuse) hallucinogens can prompt a dramatic and positive shift in mood & attitude. It’s long past time we re-evaluated they’re usefulness. https://twitter.com/i/events/1066461026420350976 …

Can only speak from my own experience here but they can also be utterly catastrophic for one's mental health. Had some experiences on hallucinogens as a teen that fucked my mind up for years :(

That’s waaaaay too young to fuck about with hallucinogens. I’m talking about a controlled environment with someone experienced there to guide you.

Yeah, for sure. When taken in a bad place at a bad time without someone to guide you through, they can result in disaster. My lifelong panic attacks started the day after I took acid. It was other shit that caused them, but the LSD was my brain's excuse to open the floodgates

I waited until way later in life to trip for the first time. It was the opposite for me. After the experience, I was able to look at things through a much different lens. A lot of my anxiety went away after that and hasn't come back.

I'm glad it was a good experience for you, man. Personally I think we are able to think just as deeply & intensely about nature, life & the universe without them but maybe we feel too inhibited & blocked up to, most of the time

That said, ain't it an interesting phenomenon that the same thing can help someone with a particular problem and make it 100x worse for someone else. I guess it's an example of why concrete outcomes & opinions (and therefore policy) are so hard to decide on sometimes
