It's a great technology for reality programs, documentaries and sports and even some animated features I feel. It is awful in movies and shows that are very deliberately lit and photographed to look a certain way.

It's ALWAYS garbage imo. I made sure to turn it off on my parents' TV when I was visiting because of course it was still on.

I cannot tell you how much I despise motion smoothing. I always get paranoid whenever we need to buy a new TV, because I never know if it'll have the decency to give me the option to turn it off. It always makes me think everything's being fast-forwarded constantly.

Unfortunately TV post process effects are currently the only solution to make console gaming look less outdated in terms of framerate. Not here to offend anyone, I play on both PS4 and PC. But I'd really prefer smooth gameplay to fancy graphics. 'Stable 30' isn't enough for 2018

Uh, hate to brake it to you but the motion smoothing just adds the input lag, which is what the high framerate usually lessens. But because the game is actually rendered 30 fps and then that data is post processed there is thus more lag.
