Watched some of the best storytelling I've ever seen in a videogame in Red Dead 2 tonight. Then I failed a bounty because I became wanted when a witness saw me defend myself against the murderous cannibals shooting at me to save their leader. A game of two very distinct halves.

Possibly the best written game I've ever had the pleasure of watching, tied to one of the most incredibly detailed and beautiful open worlds in the medium, tied to an amazingly performed protagonist, tied to godawful game mechanics & systems that felt dated in GTA4

I have an honest question as someone who is still firmly on the fence about whether or not to pick this up: Is the story and setting enough to make up for those aforementioned dated mechanics if, like me, you weren't interested that much in the plot of the first Red Dead?

I dunno because I loved the story in RDR1
