Possibly the best written game I've ever had the pleasure of watching, tied to one of the most incredibly detailed and beautiful open worlds in the medium, tied to an amazingly performed protagonist, tied to godawful game mechanics & systems that felt dated in GTA4

It's odd to me that they didn't make it so law enforcement wouldn't help when you were being attacked. Bully, a game from 2006, had the prefects tell other people off even if you started the fight and ran away

Sounds like the same issue Red Dead Redemption had. I recall one quest where there was someone you had to defend yourself at one point, but you couldn't kill the person even though they intended to kill you.

I had the same experience you spoke about on the podcast, the ambush in the ally in Saint Denis, I killed them after they started shooting and off got a bounty. I went to surrender to the police and the button prompt was on screen for maybe 1 sec before it went. They then shot me

So tired of this tbh. and the losing honour for killing in self defense. The knocking people over on horses is the most infuriating part of the game, the bounty system is so borked

Yeh, it's pretty broken
