these landlords could have easily recouped their missed rent $ from Pandemic Rental Assistance, but they preferred to wait for the eviction moratorium to lift so they could oust this blind, elderly, monolingual, long-term tenant.

On Tuesday at the San Francisco Superior Court, Judge Curtis E.A. Karnow looked down from his bench toward defending counsel and sighed. “This is one of the most difficult cases I’ve had in over a decade,” he said. missionlocal.org/2023/02/elderl
i am dealing with this right now and it really feels like the SOTF clerks are doing everything they can to quietly undermine anyone who makes frequent sunshine complaints.

it is unbelievable the level of constant clerical errors being made by the Clerk's office in SOTF issues. i usually shut up about this but it's such a waste of everyone's time. somehow those errors always work against the complainant...

The nicest thing I’ve done for myself recently was splurge on gummy multivitamins. They are so much better than the kind you have to swallow with water.
I don’t understand the flood warnings I’m getting on my phone. How many feet of water count as a flood? Should we be like, getting ready to evacuate (but where would we go) or should I not even worry since I live on a hill? Should we avoid the waterfront and/or ocean beach?

Wait. Are we supposed to have an evacuation plan?

Try not to get 'flood fatigue' over the next few days. I know it seems we've been talking about it ad nauseum but the threat continues Saturday night-Sunday morning, with a higher threat for flooding on Monday. A Flood Watch is in effect; everyone is fair game for new flooding.

Today I'm thinking about how nasty it is that most of SF still has a combined sewer system, where stormwater mixes with the raw sewage from your toilet, and together that all overflows into the San Francisco Bay sfbetterstreets.org/find-project-t

All I want for Christmas is for the City of San Francisco to stop criminalizing poverty.

Made some bad meatballs the other night- too heavy, overly rich, generally embarrassing. The next day I crumbled them up and simmered them in marinara sauce for an hour or so, put that into a lasagna - it was probably the best lasagna I’ve ever made.

this is from a longer thread of career advice for SWers (not my demographic) but maybe great advice for anyone

Also just an aside but whenever someone asks about my resume gap I kind of pull a spoiled rich kid card and say I was working on a novel/screenplay/comedy career I never finished. Which is like a half lie but it makes people fear you just a little, so I recommend it.

I'm sorry to share that negotiations with the Times collapsed tonight when the company walked off the table. I along with more than 1,000 of my colleagues will be on a 24-hour walk-out starting tonight at midnight. twitter.com/NYTimesGuild/s…

A note on elevators. In all new stations there are two sets of elevators: the first gets you to the mezzanine level, the second to the platform level. Thus you have to wait twice, and have to move from one to the other. This is sometimes a long and winding distance.

It’s not unreasonable to ask people to mask in crowded spaces, even outdoors. It is possible for covid to spread outdoors, particularly in a scenario where people are shouting or chanting.
