Curious to see more data around effectiveness of art wellness/culture therapy. (Ditto bibliotherapy) I see this as an ex of concept creep--the expanded definition of psychological illness leads to an expanded definition of therapy

Three lessons from 's CPO Dan Chu at : - Being iterative, not looking for the big bang - Enabling, not disrupting - Prioritizing social impact, not making it a side effect

"A writer can still write while hiding from the thought police. But a writer who carries the thought police around in his head, who always feels compelled to ask: Can I say this? Do I have a right?—that writer’s words will soon become lifeless."

"Very smart adults often seem unusually innocent, and I don't think this is a coincidence. I think they've deliberately avoided learning about certain things. Certainly I do. I used to think I wanted to know everything. Now I know I don't." -

23% of registered American voters could identify Iran on an unlabeled global map. Men were 2x more likely to identify it correctly. Independents, the college-educated, and those making $100k+ were also right more often.

💡I'd like to request that someone make " for work" (other ways to look at it: a chat version of / a video recording + annotation version of ), for the times when asynchronous is necessary but you need to show and not tell, or you hate typing.

Funny how simple litmus tests can clarify decisions so quickly E.g. when considering an investment I'll ask "would I be happy to introduce this person to *anyone* for any reason and rest assured they'll walk away impressed?" The answer is rarely yes, but when you know, you know

Sometimes I long for website/app experiences that are more skeuomorphic. Search on Wikipedia like I’m walking through the Library of Alexandria. Discovering music on Spotify visualized as flicking through records at a music store.

For a business audience, don't just share data. Simplify the data to one number & pair it with a recommendation. “It's going to be 73 degrees tomorrow.” v. "It's going to be 73 degrees tomorrow, so head to the beach & grab your surfboard!"

Great article on how isolating remote work can be and ways companies can address it. One of my biggest challenges in 2019 was adjusting to life with remote work + living in a new city + living alone, so it resonated a lot.

Loved these examples of great . My two favorites: • Using real images as a basis for infographics • Putting data into context by comparing it to what's everyday

🧠Cognitive bias in storytelling: loss aversion 🧠 Talk to a candidate as if they’ve already decided to join. “Say, ‘You’ll have this much equity, and these people will be on your team.' They’ll have to give up all those things by turning you down."

I wish there were a name for this. It's the opposite of trolling. Whereas trolling is loud, mean, dumb, and useless, this is quiet, benevolent, smart, and helpful. Maybe we should call it llorting. That sounds suitably nerdy.
