Haaaa! Legit hysterical. Thanks, Mindy

Serious question.. if someone who was not born into a culture but admires that culture & acts in a respectful way, why can’t it be worn? Isn’t imitation the sincerest form of flattery? (I’m not asking to start anything, I’m genuinely curious. I love learning about other cultures)
You can appriciate without appropriating.
Care to elaborate?? The *how* would be helpful.
This happens a lot in weddings. If you’re invited to a wedding where traditionally ethnic garb might be worn, and someone of that culture invited you to shop with them to wear something of their culture - that’s cool! If not, just stick to your usual wedding attire. You know?
Also, anytime I’ve traveled anywhere to visit places & people to learn about the native culture, they are overjoyed & love sharing their traditions, including garments to keep & wear myself after I’ve gone home.
Its a lot different for people who live in their homelands where everyone looks like them vs ethnic minorities in America who are oppressed and often made fun of for their cultural garb
Mindy, simply borrowing cultural apparel from a friend is not cultural appropriation. Don’t let fake outrage Twitter stop you from respectfully exercising your appreciation for other cultures’ garments.
girl only fake woke americans worry about cultural appropriation
I want cultural appropriation, I want to see Japanese people wearing Dashikis. I want to see chopsticks used in Sweden. People doing smudging ceremonies in Thailand. The sharing of cultures and traditions helps bridge gaps and dissolve boundaries. Without it we would be stuck.
Girl, just swap her one of yours and have yourselves a night on the town

We love our unproblematic queen
“If it wasn’t cultural appropriation...” I’m sure you don’t realize how many cultures you’ve “appropriated.” It’s okay. It literally makes other cultures better.
Well.. Except for Rachel Dolezal...there is a limit.
Lol yeah but it’s not like she wore a sombrero or a kimono...she literally pretended to be black, which is wrong on so many levels
