is there any way to: 1.allow download of attachments for offline viewing? 2.define a period for that eg last 3M, or a size limit cap? thanks

Not at this time; Mimestream is designed to be a very lightweight mostly-online client. For heavy offline use, we recommend using Apple Mail. We hear the demand, but the Gmail API has some quota restrictions that make offering this somewhat impractical.
